Spring Is Nature's New Year (And We're Part of Nature)
A fresh way to think about time, creativity, and the rhythms that actually sustain us.
Good Ones,
If you're feeling like the world has been scary and not making sense lately, are tired of winter, and are all messed up on the time change now too... same.
But here’s a tiny bit of good news: spring is springing, and the equinox is just days away.
This is something I want to talk about.
Spring Is Nature’s New Year (And We’re Part of Nature)
Let’s be honest: January 1st is a terrible time for a fresh start.
Winter has just begun. The holidays have probably left us more depleted than restored. It’s cold. It’s dark. It’s peak “I just want to hibernate” season. And yet, every year, we’re told this is when we should make resolutions and have big ambitions, and somehow burst into the year full of energy and motivation.
Huh? And rip me from my blanket nest? No, thank you.
Meanwhile, spring is right here, quietly showing us what an actual fresh start looks like.
Nature knows it. Our bodies know it. Spring is nature’s new year—the time of emergence, stretching toward the light, and shifting out of dormancy into something new.
So, what if we ditched the Gregorian calendar’s phony-baloney New Year’s and actually let ourselves align with the natural rhythms of the year?
Seasonal Living as an Alternative to Productivity Culture
We live in a world that expects us to be constantly on, constantly producing, constantly ‘making the most of our time.’ But that’s not how nature works.
Nature does not insist on seasonless productivity. It moves in cycles—from germination and growth, to ripening and fruition, to letting go and dormancy—until it’s time again for renewal.
My new resource (Canadian-made!)—The Seasonal Creator Almanac—is an invitation to step out of capitalist timekeeping and productivity culture and into seasonal time—where creativity isn’t about forcing output, but about tending to your practice in a way that actually makes sense.
Instead of a single, pressure-filled new beginning on January 1st, you get four natural resets throughout the year—opportunities to pause, reflect, and align in a way that feels sustainable, spacious, and human.
What I’ve Made for Us Is a Whole New Almanac (Not Just a Repackaging!)
If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember the original four seasons workbooks I released. Well, this is not just those bundled together.
The seasonal workbooks have been deeply revised, expanded, and enriched—and now they live inside a much bigger, more powerful framework.
✨ The Seasonal Creator Almanac is a 92-page reusable and letter-sized printable PDF that includes an introduction and six workbooks:
Closing Out the Year
Year-Ahead Visioning
Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter
The workbooks include:
🌿 Reflection prompts
🌿 Exercises
🌿 Optional rituals and tarot spreads
It’s a full, year-long companion—no more buying separate seasonal workbooks.
The structure is intuitive and flexible so you can start using it around the start of any season and make it your own.
If you’re ready to move with the seasons, honour your own fluctuating energy levels, and pace yourself throughout the entire year, this is the resource for you.

Oh, and One More Thing…
Remember The Follow-through Sessions? Well, they’re now in their seventh year—and they’ve evolved too!
They’re now called The Tending Sessions—because names matter. And as I refined and deepened the structure of this program, I realized it needed a name that better reflects what it’s truly about.
💡 It’s not about pushing yourself to follow through at all costs.
💡 It’s not about rigid productivity or measuring your worth by output.
💡 It’s about tending.
🌿 Tending to your creative practice with care, not force.
🌿 Tending to your work without reproducing the conditions of productivity culture.
🌿 Tending to yourself as a creator in a way that feels sustainable, expansive, and relational.
This is the most aligned and supportive version of this program yet. Think of it as a season-long container that includes:
✅ Group sessions for structure & support, every second week
✅ A one-on-one Shine Session (a deep dive into your practice)
✅ The Seasonal Creator Workbook & Planner (newly and significantly revised—the perfect complement to the almanac!)
✅ Peer support & shared wisdom
✅ A flexible system to keep you going—without hustle or grind
💡 Intake is happening now, spots are limited, and we start on April 7th.

Let’s Create a Different Way
Right now, harm is high in the world, and the pressure to keep pushing through it all? Relentless. But creativity doesn’t have to be another thing we grind through—it can be a way to resist, to reclaim our time, to build something better.
If this speaks to you, I’d love for you to join me in stepping away from productivity culture and into something more liberatory, more sustainable, and more deeply alive.
Thanks for listening, and happy almost spring.

Good things,
Jill
I loved the seasonal workbooks and will absolutely buy the almanac asap! I can’t wait to dig in. I also love the new name for the follow-through sessions. Well done Jill.
I adore your energy and approaches and I absolutely want this almanac! But it will have to wait for a better Canadian dollar exchange -- good thing one can start at any season 🤓💗
